Mike Foley is a native of Rochester, New York and
earned a degree in Business Administration from
the State University of New York before earning
his MBA from Michigan State University.
After completing his education, Mike moved to
Washington, DC and accepted a position at the US
International Trade Commission. He worked in
various government related positions in
Washington including 18 years as the Director of
Financial Analysis for a professional
association of state and federal government
utility regulators where he focused on consumer
protection issues.
In his various professional and volunteer
capacities, he testified on numerous occasions
before committees of the US Congress and was
invited in three instances to participate in
small group meetings in the Cabinet Room of the
White House with President Ronald Reagan, Vice
President George Bush, and senior White House
staff.
In 1997 Mike accepted an offer to work in
Nebraska as a litigation consultant for the US
Department of Justice where he focused on
federal tax compliance issues of major energy
companies. He then accepted a position to work
on corporate planning issues for the Nebraska
Public Power District (NPPD).
In 2000, Mike successfully ran for the Nebraska
Legislature in District 29 and was re-elected in
2004.
During his years in the Nebraska Legislature,
Mike has been a recognized champion of the
pro-life cause and has successfully shepherded
numerous bills to the governor’s desk. He is the
author of Nebraska’s Homicide of the Unborn
Child Act as well as the Assault of the Unborn
Child Act. In addition, he successfully won
passage of legislation that finally ends the
requirement that teachers distribute abortion
information to children in Nebraska’s public
schools.
He has also authored bills that expand
employment opportunities for blind citizens and
he has been recognized nationally for his work
on this issue by an award from the National
Federation for the Blind.
Mike married Susan Seiker in August 1990 and
they are the proud parents of Laura, Matthew,
Marie, Elizabeth, Peter, and Andrew.
